From its modest beginning 24 years ago, the North Coast Repertory Theatre, a non-profit organization, has evolved into one of the area's leading performing arts organizations, recognized for the quality and diversity of its work and its commitment to excellence.  Located in Solana Beach, the heart of San Diego's Coastal North County, the Theatre has long been an important cultural facility and public arts venue to the residents of Solana Beach.

When the North Coast Repertory Theatre considered relocating to Encinitas, the Solana Beach City Council asked the developer of Cedros Crossing to work with the Theatre to provide a new facility.

The developer accepted the City Council’s request and redesigned the project to accommodate the Theatre. The City of Solana Beach then granted $10,000 to the Theatre to assist in funding preliminary design work for the Theatre at the Cedros Crossing project Theatre Resolution 2005-021

The resulting design was criticized by nearby residents who felt the building heights were now too high and blocked too many views.  Responding to neighbors’ concerns, the project was redesigned to increase parking, lower building heights, break up the roof lines to minimize view obstructions, and prevent traffic from using adjacent residential neighborhood streets.

These project changes allow for the North Coast Repertory Theatre, a regional arts treasure, to remain in Solana Beach.
