The Solana Beach City Council's decision 17 years ago to host the Amtrak/Coaster station previously located in Del Mar was the first step in creating a vibrant, resident-serving heart for our community.
Since the City Council's visionary decision in 1989, the neighborhood's character has been enhanced by development of the Cedros Design District, completion of the Coastal Rail Trail, upgrades to businesses along the 101 corridor, and the City's creation of a Redevelopment Area that includes the train station.
Now, with over a decade of public input, it's time to make the vision a reality by approving Cedros Crossing - the final and central piece of the visionary plan that includes commercial and residential development on the property immediately north and south of the train station.
The project meets the City's original goals, improving parking availability with approximately 950 parking spaces, of which 517 underground spaces are planned for train riders. Cedros Crossing provides a mix of resident-serving retail, restaurants, high-quality residential lofts, and boutique office space all in a distinctively-designed, pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly project that preserves view corridors and minimizes traffic impacts. |
